Show Name: Shalamar
Barn Name: Shay
Age: 7 years old
Gender: Stallion
Height: 15.2 hh
Breed: Akhal-Teke
Riding Discipline(s): Eventing, Jumping
Physical Description: Shay is a golden bay, with three socks, two on his hind legs and one of his front left. Overall he is a peculiar looking horse, with an upraised neck. However, this is tiypical for an Akhal Teke. He has muscular shoulders and haunches, with slender legs and hooves. His conformation is excellent, except for that he carries his head above the bit. His head has a small dish to it, and he has small ears. His mane is long. His tail is short. His hooves are slender and pale, and are sensitive to shock and all other forms. Take care to take care of his hooves. His chest is narrow and he very slender. However, he is hardy and strong and will carry his rider through the toughest of times. He is an odd looking horse. But, he is undeniably gorgeus.
Psychological Description: Being a stallion, Shay is very high strung, and will react to poor handling to the most extent of his strength. He can be willful at times, and can prove to be a handful. Gain his trust slowly, take your time with him. He is strong willed, and is a one person horse. Not a great combination. Take care of him, and he will take care of you. He will do his best, and will learn to love. He will be select with his companionship. On the jumping course, he is energetic and willing. Be sure to make sure that he doesn't approach too fast. Overall he is a very smart horse, that will understand your feelings. Do not be hesitant. do not be his boss. Be his partner. He will protect you if you prove yourself to him. He is a great horse.
History: On a small farmer's field, there was a stormy night. One of his prized mares was giving birth to her first foal. He had great plans for this foal, one of his own Akhal Tekes. He knew how excellent the breed was. However, somewhere in the birth, he lost the mother, rendering Shay an orphan. The farmer's son took great care of him. Shay grew attached to that young man. Then, disaster struck, when Shay was two years old and had finished his training for jumpiong and eventing, the young boy died. It was a mystery illlness, that had gripped onto him for most of the years. Shay was heartbroken. The farmer, in grieving, sold Shay to the first bidder, a young woman. Together, she and Shay bonded and she took him to great heights. She showed him every month, he enjoyed it and loved her. Now, since the woman is suffering from arthritis, she can hardly ride anymore. It will break her heart to see Shay go, but she knows that he has so much to live for. She hopes to find someone that will be able to bond with him and work with him.
Example Post:
Smooth pale hooves dug into the soft earth as the stallion made his magnificent charge at the fence. The young woman watched as he helplessly neighed for her again and again. She just shook her head, tears flooding into her eyes and down her face. Shay wouldn't understand. He had been through so much already. He flung his head high, and reared back onto his hind hooves, snorting and whickering. He battled thatis forelegs beat the air like an enemy. Why wouldn't he reach her, why couldn't she come back to him. Had she, betrayed him?
Just like so many other that had left him, was this just another lie too? The stallion's eyes became fierce again. He landed back on the earth, then turned his back to her, his golden coat shining with sweat. If that was what should happen, he would trust her with this decision. With a final loud neigh, he wheeled around and cantered down the fenceline, away from her, away from his past. Into a new future, where he could finally stay with one, and no other. Would there even be another beginning like that? Would he enter the unknown? There would be one thing certain. Nothing would ever be the same.
