She had finally come to the decision that she must sell her beloved horse. She took out an add for him in a local magazine, hoping to attract the attention of buyers. Now she was going to all the tack shops near by and posting flyers on the bulliton board. It was weird for her to realize that the images were of her own horse, but she couldn.t think about that right now, she didn't have time for him and that was that. She looked over the last flyer as she tacked it up next to the others. It read: Registered Name: Call On Me Call Name: Colton Breed: Thoroughbred Age: 4 Gender: Stallion Color/Markings: Chestnut, front socks, back coronet, star, and small stripe Discipline: Eventing/ Hunter Prospect Information: Colton was bred as a racehorse and spent a year and a half on the track. When an eventing trainer bought him, he was a green 3 year old and the man had no patience for him. He is now very sensitive and shies easily. He will need a patient and experienced rider to help him overcome his fears and become the show horse that he could be. Asking Price: 2,500

OOC: For the sake of stuff, let's just say there was a number on the ad. This should make this more fun to roleplay and yeah. Alex could be seen often walking his city streets, just enjoying being outside and of course, getting some exercise at the same time. Although, he didn't need it with his constant barn work and all. It was still nice enjoying the weather. But it was pretty humid outside. Well maybe he just wanted to get out of his house for awhile. His new job at the new and improved Whitecross Stables was a bit boring for now since there weren't any boarders or lesson students. No shows were taking place and not many people showed up. Some may have called about boarding, but a lot of them were turned off by the fact that it's so quiet. Sighing heavily, Alex just hoped that the stable would make it's grand comeback soon enough. He had always thought about contributing to bringing Whitecross back by buying his own horse, yet he had never came across the right one. Yes, he had tried a few out. Some just a test ride and others for an official trial period. Stalions, geldings, mares, colts, fillies, Warmbloods, Thoroughbreds, Quarter Horses, and everything in between. There just wasn't any chemistry. He hadn't given up hope yet, though. He had a keen eye for a good show horse and he intended to keep looking no matter how long it took him.
Maybe what happened next was coincidence to his thoughts at that moment, but he saw a paper fall from a nearby pole. The soft summer breeze blew it along at a gentle speed, a speed slow enough for Alex to catch it. He jogged over to it slowly and grasped it in his hands, lifting it up and shielding his eyes from the sun to read what was on it. A picture of a gorgeous chestnut stallion embraced the ad. His eyes scanned the description and the price. What a steal! Although, not all horses were the same as they were advertised to be, so his hopes didn't soar too high. Alex quickly whipped his cell phone out of his pocket and dialed the provided number. Each ring was loud in his ear as he waited for Colton's owner to answer or to get an answering machine.

She walked home through the misty streets, passing her flyers on her way. She walked in and the the phone started to ring. She put her stuff down and went ot see who it was. When she didn't recognize the number she almost didn't answer, but something told her that this time she should. "Hello" she said into the reciever, still somewhat expecting a sales call. When the voice on the other end announced that he wanted to ask about Colton, she perked up. "I'd love to tell about him," she said, "Or we could set up a time for you to come out and meet him."

Alex's impatience didn't help him too much in awaiting an answer. The phone continued to ring, and he mostly thought he would eventually get in touch with either an operator's voice or the voice of Colton's owner telling him that she was not avaliable at this time. He was utterly suprised when a live woman's voice echoed into his phone's speaker. She sounded friendly and happy to talk about her horse, as most people were with their animals. Alex just smiled and waited for her to finish up what she was saying before he spoke into the phone.
"Hey, my name is Alex. This stallion looks extremely promising, but before we set up a time and place for me to look at him, can you please tell me a little bit more about him? I just want to know a bit more than what an advertisement can provide," he said with a slight laugh to let the woman know he was in good spirits and not completely a serious person. They were never any fun. "Also, do you want to trailer him to where he will be boarded or would you like me to come out to your place?"

She smiled at the enthusiasm in the guy's voice. Hopefully he would be a good match for Colton, he desperatly needed someone to love him. "Hi, Alex I'm Emily, I think I forgot to mention that. You're right Colton has a lot of potential, but he was abused in his last home, so he can be pretty hard to work with and very distrustful. He was 3 when the eventer bought him of-the-track. I don't really think that the guy knew what he was getting into when he bought a green horse, especially a Thoroughbred stallion. The man rode him with a crop and spurs, and basically sacred him into behaving. Now he is very spooky and takes a while to warm up to people. Once you earn his trust though, he really is a sweetheart. I can assure you that he will be difficult to work with, but I think that if you have the time to spend on, which i don't, then the pay off will wonderful." she stopped for a minute to think of the stallion's fluid gates that she was sure she could watch all day. Coming back she went on, "As for meeting him, I'd be happy to trailor him to your barn if that would be easier for you." She hoped silently that he would still be interested now that he knew what a handful Colton really was.

ALex listened as Colton's owner explained that he could be a handful because of his abused past. Spurs and a crop were no way to make a horse behave. They were only superflous to good riding, to back up the rider's cues, but gently. Force doesn't create a relaxed and obedient horse who's willing to form a partnership with it's rider. Alex trained horses in this mindset. He has the time to spend on this stallion and so far, it sounded like it would be wonderfully worth it. However, he didn't want to get in over his head just yet. He still had yet to meet the Thoroughbred. He knew it wouldn't be glamorous, but hey, that's buying a horse for you. Smiling, Alex prepared to speak just as Colton's owner finished saying how she would be glad to trailer Colton to Whitecross.
"That sounds perfect ma'am. I am located at a large barn called Whitecross Stables. There are signs leading to it on any of the major highways. Just come into the driveway and pull right up by the outdoor ring. I'll be there all day, so whenever is good for you. I can't wait to meet him and you, so try to hurry," he said jokingly with a laugh. Although, he kind of wasn't joking since he was a bit anxious to meet Colton, but whatever was good with his owner was good for him. "I'll see you soon. Thanks for your time. Bye," he said politely, stuffing his phone back in his pocket and turning back towards the barn.

She let out a breath that she hadn't realized that she had been holding when he said that he still wanted to meet Colton. Then she hung up the phone and started to find all the things that she would need to take to Whitcross with her. She didn't want to get her hopes up about colton selling, but she thought she might as well be prepared. She located his papers and everything she had about his past. Then she grabbed her keys and headed to the barn.
She walked quickly through the barn aisle until she Colton's stall. He hovered in the back, but let her put a halter on him. Then he walked cautiously behind her to the trailer. She had to try a few times before he would follow her onto the trailer. Once she got him on, she scratched his neck then closed the door. As she got in the driver's seat she hoped that this would be the start of a better life for the colt.
