Lily trudged slowly down the streets, the flyers and tape clutched in her hands. This was the last thing that she wanted to be doing right now, handing out flyers advertising her beloved mustang's sale. But it had to be done. How else was she going to afford her books for college. The vet bills, the farrier, and the hay costs were getting to her, and she didn't have time to work two jobs. This was the only way. Lily let out a sigh as she strode into the tack shop, and posted the advertisment among several other flyers.
Her own flyer read... ----------------------------- show name, aiyana barn name, aiyana age, six gender, female height, 14.3 hh color, grulla markings, star breed, mustang information, Aiyana is a BLM mustang who was rounded up as a two year old. She has had one good home since then. She was gentled and then trained for western pleasure, although she'd be great at any western sport. Easy to train. Spooks easily, experienced riders only. Amazing trail horse. price, $1200 firm.

Ryfen grumbled in annoyance to herself as she wandered down the sidewalk, retracing the now-familiar path towards the tack store. She'd been making this trip repeatedly in the past few weeks, ever since her mother and sister had okayed the support funds for her first horse. It was a milestone, wasn't it? A horse of her own was just the first step in her dreams of her own ranch and animal rescue center.
But she'd been disappointed. Every day she'd wandered down the main road through town, every day she'd entered the tack store, every day she'd scanned the horse listings. And every day, disappointment. She still wasn't the best rider; she needed a partner instead of an apprentice or a teacher. All these listings were for either green horses or those that were highly trained...in the wrong field. All these were gussied up jumpers, racers, and eventers. Oh no, no horse of Ryfen's would just be a looker.
Sighing slightly, the redheaded teen pushed open the door to the tack shop and wandered over to the bulletin board without really watching where she was going. She very nearly ran into another girl standing there, and stepped back with a murmured apology before turning to the board. Her spirits began to drop as she glanced over the same ads she'd been staring at for a solid week, and she began to turn away when her eyes caught the stack in the other girl's hands. Her heart leapt into her throat as she scanned the board again, picking out the new one of the bunch.
"Mare...mustang...Western pleasure!" Her mutters took on and excited squeak at the end, and she rounded on the girl, light dancing in her clear green eyes. "Could I buy her?" She asked without pretense, and almost nervous smile on her face. Here was the horse she had been looking for, and here was the one person that could help her on her way.

Lily sighed and was about to turn away when a redheaded girl like herself nearly ran her over, and murmered an apology. Lily smiled and nodded and was about to walk away, when she noticed that the girl was looking over the advertisments with a dissapointed look on her face, until she saw her own advertisment. The girl turned to Lily and spoke. She hadn't been expecting an offer so soon, but now was better then never. Lily smiled. "You ride Western, I guess. Where could you keep her, and how much experience do you have?"

Ryfen's smile grew slightly as she nodded in response to the other girl's first question. The second and third were also easy answers. "Well, I'd be keeping her at Whitecross Stables. I've had a stall reserved there for weeks, just waiting for the right horse." She chuckled a bit nervously, her innate shyness around new people threatened to rear it's head. "I'll be honest though, I'm no expert at riding, but I do have experience. I spent most of this past year at a ranch owned by a friend of my mother's." She sighed faintly and turned her gaze back to the bulletin board, scanning briefly through the advertisements again, but the one for the Mustang mare kept drawing her attention. This was the one.
Turning back to the other girl, Ry extended her hand, the most natural smile she could muster on her face. "I'm Ryfen. Even if I don't get her, it's a pleasure to meet you."
